Tipi Raising at HJ Cody

Reconciliation is about addressing past wrongs done to Indigenous Peoples, making amends, and improving relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people to create a better future for all. The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada has 94 Calls to Action, and today at École H.J. Cody School we took another step to educate our students about First Nations, Metis, and Inuit by raising a permanent tipi in our courtyard. Mr. Butterfly shared with us the teaching and significance of the teepee and on June 21st which is National Indigenous Peoples Day, all students will learn about the tipi teachings.
